Common sense currently means what we can agree upon on these terms. On the basis of the coordinated senses the observer by means of continuous impressions made at different times is able to produce the evidence necessary to him to support the construction of an independent solid object. The stereoscopic object is not perceived as such but nevertheless is constructed of perceptions. Another piece of evidence, and a comparatively new one, is the continuity of the observations made with the unaided senses and the observations made with the senses aided by instruments.
The influence of the outer world, which is fairly continuous, will not go away simply PART I: COPING WITH KNOWLEDGE because Husserlleaves it out of his considerations.
